Samrat Ashok Technological Institute (SATI) was established on November 1, 1960 under the 'Open Door' policy of the Government of India, by the Maharaja Jiwajirao Education Society, Vidisha. It received a donation from the Gangajali Trust Fund of the Scindias, erstwhile rulers of the Gwalior state and commitment of non-recurring and recurring grants from the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh in agreed proportions. However, the Government of Madhya Pradesh had undertaken to meet the entire non-recurring and recurring deficit of the Institute budget for approved programmess after the first five years of establishment of the Institute.
The Institute was affiliated to the Vikram University Ujjain to start with but after the creation of the Bhopal University at Bhopal, the Institute got affiliated to it. At present this institute has an intake capacity of 480 in various courses at U.G. Level and 415 in P.G. and other courses, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Technology at Bhopal.

FACTS

The Institute is accredited by the NBA (A.I.C.T.E.) and is the first accredited Engineering College in Madhya Pradesh. -
About 2000 students are presently enrolled in the institute. -
All the Engineering Departments have formed Engineering Associations of their respective branches to encourage students to participate in professional activities. -
The Central Workshop has all the conventional trade shops required for regular curriculum. -
The Central Library has a rich collection of all kinds of textbooks and reference books and journals related to various subjects of studies of the engineering as well as applied science courses being run at the institute. The Library also extends a Book Bank Service to needy students, particularly of reserved categories. The college provides excellent facilities for practically all major outdoor and indoor games and has a full-time Sports Officer with adequate supporting staff to assist in games and sports activities.

A registered cooperative stores exists in the campus which co-ordinates the management of Hostel messes and supplies books and other items of utility at reasonable rates. A dispensary providing students and staff with basic medicine facilities has been set up in the campus with a qualified compounder. Services of a consultant Doctor are also available.
